Essential Duties & Responsibilities:     

  • Investigate and select equipment to be purchased based on equipment capacity, efficiency, and payback
  • Design and implement necessary equipment and tooling to support the manufacturing processes
  • Maintain a safe work environment adhering to all safety regulations
  • Identify methodology and processes in an effort to increase productivity and efficiency
  • Manage major projects using Project Management programs, including management of outside vendors to facilitate timely completion
  • Manage outside resources that have been identified with related projects
  • Assist 5S/Continuous Improvement teams during Kaizen events
  • Assist in training of personnel in new equipment start up
  • Troubleshoot problems as necessary
  • Maintain a 40 hour workweek and work overtime when necessary
  • Use of time & motions studies to ensure optimum and accurate standards for new and existing products
  • Assist in training of personnel in new equipment start-up
  • Work with Product Engineering on manufacturability of product
  • Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees
  • Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 Safety certification requirements
  • Keep abreast of new technology in areas of equipment, processes and automation
  • Assure that all environmental regulations are followed
  • Review machinery and processes to maximize capacities
  • Use appropriate engineering studies and techniques to reduce product cost
  • Manage AUC (Asset Under Construction) capital expenditure projects ranging from small to large and from initiation to closure timely
  • Work with all departments within and outside the plant in a professional manner to resolve such matters related to engineering
  • Support company policies and procedures
  • Active participant in the safety program, evaluating processes and equipment for proper employee safety
  • Work with production supervisors to improve efficiency and through-put
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis for problem solving
  • Assist in analyzing and selecting equipment to be purchased
  • Identify processes where automation may be justified

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good understanding of standard computer programs, including design
  • Good communicator and listener
  • Understanding of the equipment being used in a machine shop environment and on the plant floor
  • Machine Shop experience helpful
  • Computer skills to include SolidWorks, Microsoft Office programs

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas
  • Exposure to fumes
  • Eye and ear protection required on production floor
  • Exposure to machine noise
  • Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts
  • Exposure to oils and antifreeze
