Essential Duties & Responsibilities:     

  • Develops and maintains site-specific EHS programs, policies, procedures and training modules to meet regulatory, business unit, division and corporate requirements.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health, safety and security regulations.
  • Monitors and implements programs to meet the GF Corporate Strategy, which includes the GF Sustainability Framework.
  • Completes EHS audits in accordance with facility schedules and ensures appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Implements environmental, health and safety education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.
  • Supports environmental, health and safety programs and training to ensure that safe operations and working conditions exist.
  • Maintains regulatory required reporting (permitting fees, SARA 311-312-313 and TIER II reports, OSHA log, Air Quality).
  • Maintains environmental management system - ISO 14001, health and safety management system - ISO 45001 and energy management system - ISO 50001.
  • Complies with the ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • Leads facility-wide recycling and waste disposal programs.
  • Manages site environmental health and safety teams/committees, including the Emergency Response Team, i.e. medical, chemical spill and/or specialized EHS teams, i.e. ergonomics.
  • Conducts trends analysis and reporting of results against key EHS metrics, including facility risk assessments.
  • Coordinates the accumulation of Hazardous and Non-hazardous waste for off-site disposal in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Supports and maintain departmental risk reduction activities.
  • Develops environmental, health, safety and security communications (i.e. postings, employee meeting notices, minutes and safety awareness).
  • Coordinates Environmental related matters associated with site operations including air, water, waste and chemical/materials managements issues, to include Safety Data Sheets and hazardous/non-hazardous materials and waste storage, identification, and manifesting for proper disposal.
  • Investigates accidents and near misses making sure root-cause analysis, containment and corrective actions are completed.
  • Manages and follow-up on all workers' compensation claims.
  • Prepares mandatory safety alerts for near misses and work related injuries, as well as environmental alerts for environmental incidents.
  • Acts as the Site EHS representative with company associates, customers, vendors, contractors, government officials and the public in all areas of environmental, health and safety.
  • Audits comp compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems, including "non-benefit" insurance policies such as Property Insurance, Liability Insurance, EPL, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DHS and State of Arkansas, California and Pennsylvania regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels within the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software package.
  • Knowledge using SAP a plus.
  • High-energy individual who is goal-oriented and results-driven

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Safety, Environmental, Natural Sciences or other related education degree preferred.
  • Five plus (5+) years' manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous people management experience.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining an ISO 14001 environmental management system.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining an ISO 45001 occupational, health and safety management system.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining an ISO 50001 energy management system.
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Certification preferred.
  • DOT Hazardous Materials Certification preferred
  • Certified OSHA Trainer is a plus
  • Emergency Medical Technician is a plus

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Exposure to machine noise.
  • Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production area.
  • Working conditions are normal for a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
  • Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
  • This role may require walking in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Up to 30% travel may be for domestic.
