About this role

GF Industry and Infrastructure Flow Solutions, a division of GF, is the world's leading supplier of piping systems. We enable the safe and sustainable transport of fluids. Our business is driven by industry-leading sustainability levels, innovation through digital solutions and investment in a culture based on performance, learning and caring.
If you're passionate about technology, sustainability, and global collaboration — you’ll feel right at home with us.

We are seeking an Application Engineer – Valve Automation to support our customers by designing and delivering integrated valve automation solutions using GFPS valves and third-party actuation technologies. This role requires a strong understanding of valve performance, actuator selection, and system integration to meet complex customer requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Propose and sell customer solutions by listening to and evaluating our customer’s requirements and selecting and proposing innovative control solutions according to our customer’s and principal’s standards and practices.
  • Grow our valve automation business to meet annual company sales goals targets in our coverage area by promoting and fostering GFPS’s reputation as a total valve supplier for ball valves, butterfly valves, valve automation, and solutions. Includes participating in training, developing a sufficient knowledge base of all product lines our company represents, being able to readily access all necessary information to develop and price valve automation solutions, and demonstrating a satisfactory competency level to meet the expected standards of performance necessary to deliver valve automation solutions to our customer base in a timely manner.
  • Achieve desired sales results for annual new product initiatives by participating in new product launches, probing and uncovering customer needs and pain points, and applying our new technology and product solution offerings.
  • Provide support and technical services to customers by assisting users with start-up, checkout, and calibration, and resolving product and/or service issues based on established standards and procedures.
  • Additionally, be responsible and accountable for following through on all customer orders, returns, credits, and invoicing issues to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution.
  • Adopt a structured case-tracking system to document service interactions, resolutions, and follow-up actions—ensuring visibility across teams and enabling continuous improvement.

  • Support on-time delivery to customers by aligning customer needs with factory capabilities and negotiating mutually agreed delivery timelines. Proactively assist in expediting products and services with suppliers when necessary to meet or exceed expectations. This includes anticipating risks to customer satisfaction and taking ownership to drive timely, effective resolution.
  • Identify and qualify new sales opportunities by maintaining accurate customer information, supporting account growth strategies, and collaborating closely with Account Managers to ensure consistent service and long-term customer engagement.
  • Maintain and develop professional and technical competence by attending periodic factory training sessions, appropriate web-based training classes/seminars, periodic “hands-on” training, departmental meetings, as well as periodic professional development workshops or classes.
  • Inform supervisor/manager and appropriate GFPS personnel of market conditions providing timely reporting of key customer and competitor activities within the territory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • A strong technical background in valve automation, fluid systems, or process control—gained through experience, training, or a combination of both
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting or configuring valve automation or similar mechanical/electromechanical systems
  • Familiarity with valve types, actuator technologies (pneumatic/electric), and their application in industrial systems
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into practical, commercially viable solutions
  • Experience working with GFPS products or similar piping and automation components is a plus
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to interface with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Customers
  • Working knowledge of ERP/CRM systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce) and ability to manage quotes, orders, and customer data
  • A self-driven, customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage priorities and follow through on technical deliverables
  • Formal technical training or coursework is a plus, but a degree is not required—we value applied knowledge and problem-solving over credentials
