Your Role

Gensler Columbus is seeking a well-versed professional to join our team as a Senior Interior Designer. In this role, you'll lead the team and tackle complex design challenges both conceptually and technically while collaborating with integrated project teams to develop innovative solutions. What You Will Do

  • Lead interiors on architectural projects, including programming client needs, visioning, concept design, schematic design, design development, and documentation, and manage budget/schedule adherence
  • Collaborate on leading and developing the project vision with the collective team to create a compelling design narrative that reflects the project story and brand
  • Generate program documents and develop space planning concepts through planning and Schematic Design phases.
  • Create and develop materiality and design strategy with the team to support experiential design and brand story
  • Oversee FF&E development.
  • Utilize our Gensler visualization tools with the team to develop renderings to support design efforts for interior design concepts.
  • Lead project team coordination for the finished plans, FF&E specifications, and material selections required for construction
  • Utilize technical knowledge and delivery experience for effective documentation and detailing
  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Participate in the construction administration as needed overseeing team on response to RFIs and submittals
  • Manage client expectations and coordinating team and consultant communications.
  • Build and develop client relationships through networking, attending industry events to assist in generating opportunities.

Your Qualifications

  • 15+ years of related professional experience as an interior designer. Experience across multiple practices is a plus: workplace, hospitality, mixed-use, residential and higher education
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design
  • Proficiency in Revit, InDesign, Enscape and MS Office required
  • Strong conceptual planner
  • Exceptional knowledge of the design process, including FF&E + specifications, color, and materials
  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
  • Must possess a strong sense of design vision with the ability to craft and communicate compelling narratives through design and storytelling
  • Ability to simultaneously work on a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship management skills
  • NCIDQ required
