Overview of Position:

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive behavioral health care to patients of all age groups by formulating treatment plans based on assessment data gathered through patient history, mental health evaluations, and selected diagnostic procedures. The PMHNP offers a range of mental health treatments including medication management and crisis intervention. Additionally, The PMHNP actively collaborates with the medical director, counselors, and other team members by participating in treatment team meetings and engaging in ongoing communication as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.    Assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals and families
2.    Providing client education and appropriate referrals
3.    Collaborating with the Medical Director, counselors, and other members of the care team, in scheduled care conferences
4.    Ordering client laboratory screenings and interpreting results
5.    Reviewing documentation of prior care and consulting with prior care providers
6.    Prescribing medications within the scope of your practice
7.    Maintaining follow-up care with clients/families

QUALIFICATIONS
1.    Licensed Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner /APRN.
2.    Graduate of an approved School of Nursing:  Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.  
3.    Minimum five (5) years clinical experience, including two (2) years in an area relevant to certification.
4.    Valid certificate to prescribe in accordance with sections 4732.48-4723.483 of the Ohio Revised Code, Rules of the Ohio Board of Nursing, and in the Ohio Board of Nursing formulary.
5.    Current CPR certification is required.
6.    Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others.
7.    Ability to read, calculate, and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and apply clinical knowledge.
8.    Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities, and carry out the established plan.
9.    Commitment to providing care to patients across the lifespan.
10.    Dedicated to providing care to patients with mental illness and substance use disorders.
11.    Demonstrated competence in age-specific patient care.

3.    Promotes Patient and Employee Safety 
• Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.) 
• Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment
• Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.
• Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.

1.    Ability to sit, stand, stoop, push, pull, bend, and walk for extended periods of time.
2.    Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level.
3.    Will be assigned to be on call as needed.
