Job Description

Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Joining, you will be responsible for optimizing and improving joining processes within our manufacturing operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety for GM do Brasil.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize joining processes (welding and sealing) for new and existing vehicle programs;

  • Define and manage all joining KPIs (quality, cost and performance);

  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure robust and efficient joining solutions from concept to production;

  • Lead and participate in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential risks in joining processes;

  • Conduct Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to analyze and improve the flow of materials and information related to joining operations;

  • Drive continuous improvement plan and initiatives;

  • Design and implement innovative solutions for joining to enhance process efficiency and safety, including, but not limited to, automation, systems integration and AI;

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and GM standards related to the process;

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and production, to solve manufacturing challenges and issues;

  • Conduct technical analysis to ensure effective correction for joining process issues;

  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel on joining processes and equipment;

  • Document and maintain process specifications, work instructions, and best practices.


Mandatory requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field;

  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering - a focus on joining technologies (e.g., resistance welding, arc welding, laser welding, adhesive bonding, riveting) is preferred;

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills;

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced manufacturing environment;

  • Intermediate English.

Desirable requirements:

  • Advanced English;

  • Understanding and practical application of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles;

  • Proficiency in Process Engineering methodologies and tools;

  • Experience in conducting Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA);

  • Demonstrated ability to apply Value Stream Mapping (VSM) for process optimization;

  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) design and implementation;

  • Understanding and application of Lean Principles (GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) is a plus).
