Team Overview:  

GM’s Motorsports Software team analyzes, defines, and delivers next generation groundbreaking Motorsports IT software solutions. Using both innovative cloud-based infrastructure and software development standards, these solutions enable innovative interactions between GM Global Engineering, GM Motorsports, and our Race teams that accelerate our drivers to the finish line first!

Our combined team of analysts, architects, developers, data engineers, testers, and project managers work with GM Motorsports Engineering and Race teams to ensure podium wins for GM’s NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, and now Formula 1 sportscar teams! 


The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our cloud-based infrastructure. This role will ensure the reliability, security, and optimal performance of our Azure environments, supporting critical business operations.


What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Design, deploy, and manage Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions, including virtual machines, storage accounts, networking, and databases.
  • Implement and maintain robust Linux-based systems within the Azure cloud, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Utilize various System Management Tools to monitor system health, identify potential issues, and proactively address them.
  • Perform Incident Reporting and resolution for production issues, collaborating with other IT teams to minimize downtime.
  • Apply strong Troubleshooting IT Systems skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems across the Azure landscape.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database performance and ensure data integrity, leveraging knowledge of Database Theory.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts for routine tasks and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices within the Azure environment.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for critical system support.


Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Proven experience as an Azure Systems Engineer or similar role
  • Strong proficiency in Azure cloud services and infrastructure management
  • Expertise in Linux Management Systems, including administration and scripting
  • Demonstrated ability to use various System Management Tools for monitoring and automation
  • Excellent Troubleshooting IT Systems skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Solid understanding of Database Theory and experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with Incident Reporting and management processes

People Skills:

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
  • Passion for Motorsports and working in a high-pace environment
