About this role

Overview

C5I Integration & Test Engineers utilize their operational, maintenance, and subject matter expertise to support the design, development, and testing of Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) for new-construction U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and advanced engineering practices, these roles provide critical expertise across the VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA submarine programs.

 

Opportunities within C5I Test and Engineering span the entire system lifecycle—from initial concept and design through development, hardware/software integration, system testing, and final delivery aboard the submarine. Beyond new construction, engineers also contribute to sustaining the operational fleet through the analysis and resolution of in-service issues, evaluation of obsolescence concerns, and execution of NPES modernization initiatives to maintain the Navy’s technological edge.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands on experience relevant to maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting and repair of Virginia Class Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES)
  • Current active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred:

  • US Navy Instructor Certification
  • Fiber optics experience

Skills

  • Task management skills to coordinate, direct, and participate in diverse test evolutions and troubleshooting efforts
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to read and interpret system drawings, diagrams, in relation to Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES)
  • Candidates must be able to interact on various levels with personnel from Electric Boat (Subordinates, peers, Supervisors and Managers) as well as the Customer
  • Familiarity with submarine construction and test philosophies
  • Installation and configuration, network administration of networking systems, routers, and switches
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and concurrently complete multiple assignments as required in addition to de-confliction skills
  • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with management and technical personnel on various levels
  • Strong problem solving skills
