Overview
The Supervisor of Logistics is responsible for overseeing, transportation, heavy equipment operations and in-process material delivery for 2nd shift.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for the supervision of hourly and salary departmental personnel all shifts and daily departmental operation
- Will be responsible to adhere to safe work practices
- Must be familiar with a variety of standard concepts, practices and procedures, and company policies. Relies on metrics that measure incoming and outgoing demands, along with experience and judgment to plan and accomplish department/organizational goals
- Must be able to work with Electric Boat operating systems
- Efficiently Facilitate the movement of material and ensure deliveries are scanned to drop zones
- Will communicate work flow between shifts
- Responsible for fleet readiness PM's repairs etc.
- Responsible for developing and implementing metrics for delivery performance material goals/plans
- Independent creativity and latitude is expected
- Promote and actively support EBQP Process Improvement System and attain facility departmental goals
- Must be able to work with the EBQP Process Improvement Team and define and eliminate waste to reduce the cost of material handling
- Must also be able to document the process and provide training to the team members
- Responsible for compliance with all DOT/CFR regulations
- Responsible to assist with the facility forklift APT (Accident Prevention Program)
This position is located in Quonset Point at the North Kingstown, RI location.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 4 years of supply-chain, warehousing, and/or transportation experience
- A minimum of 2 years of Supervisory experience
- Must be able to attain hazmat transportation qualifications
- Must be available to work all shifts, including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
- Must understand safe operating procedures for various forklifts as well as understand and be able to work with EB Inventory Tracking system
- Must be able to manage functions that include transportation and material distribution
- Must be flexible and able to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to understand and be able to learn Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-Point and Scanning
Preferred:
- Associates degree or higher in Business or Supply Chain Management
- Heavy equipment and tractor trailer operation experience
- Tractor Trailer experience
- CFR certification
- Shipyard experience
- Navy/Military experience
