About this role

Overview

This job opportunity is located in Philadelphia, PA

Operations has an opening for Manufacturing Technicians responsible for performing submarine shipboard and manufacturing work to support delivered ships at the CTF Philadelphia Site.

 

The successful candidates must be experienced in naval submarine maintenance activity and be flexible as well as adaptable, working in a team environment. A Manufacturing Technician is a multi-disciplined person that must have one or more skills within the trades. Welders, Electricians, Pipefitters, Shipfitters and Inside / Outside Machinists will be preferred and considered first.

 

Candidates shall be experienced in reading blueprints and math skills necessary for establishing or determining ships lines relative to positioning components for installation.

 

Candidates shall be willing to learn new skills and apply them as needed with the appropriate training.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties of a marine mechanic/pipefitter
  • On-hull machining, component installation
  • Support testing of mechanical components
  • Shafting, pumps, valving
  • Diligent execution of certification paperwork associated with tasks
  • Torque wrench and tensioner usage
  • Superbolt and locknut installation

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-10 years of relevant mechanical/pipe experience or experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Candidate may be required to train at the Groton, CT and/or Quonset Point, RI facilities off and on as needed.
  • Candidates must be available to work any shift, as well as split or extended shifts and overtime as business needs dictate.

Preferred:

  • AS/BS/Technical School
  • Experience in the Mechanical field and education/training in Machinist work
  • Experience with Torque wrenches, indicators, and valve installation processes
  • Experience with flex hose installation and pipe installations processes

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings and weekends. Shift work and overtime may be required
  • The candidate must possess strong technical skills, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform tasks safely, and with a high priority on first time quality
