The next step in support of the Virginia Class and Columbia construction process is executing work to Electric Boat paper in the focus factory at a supplier facility. Electric Boat is looking for successful candidates to perform inspection duties throughout the offsite locations, which will include verifying attributes for welds, structures and components. Candidates will be trained in Quality Control systems, Electric Boat procedures applicable to the work they are performing and Quality Department Instructions. Candidates must work in a collaborative environment to meet all company and organizational goals.  This position is to be part of the new Imbedded Team in Philadelphia, PA building missile compartment decks, foundation, tanks etc.

 

All successful candidates will be required to maintain a Magnetic Particle certification. Further opportunity for inspection disciplines such as Liquid Penetrant, Pre-Test, Electrical, Mechanical, etc. may be made available once proficiency has been achieved and maintained in Magnetic Particle.  Candidates must successfully pass all Mock Audits and oversights to maintain certification.

Relocation package will be offered with position to eligible candidates.

 

This position is located at the Rhoads Industrial facility in Philadelphia, PA.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent OR 2 plus years of related technical experience
  • Must be able to obtain & maintain an MT, PT, or ET certification
  • Must be able to attain a key department qualification/certification within the first six months after starting as a Quality Inspector
  • The successful candidate must be able to work all shifts, extended week days and weekends, and travel to offsite locations as needed.  The shift will need to be flexible at times to support priority work. This is to support the workload for each Focus Factory site (travel could be 1 week to a few months at a time). Travel will be decided by the job and EWA or business travel will be used
  • Travel expectancy will be 30-40%
  • Ability to work at heights, tightly confined spaces and in extreme weather conditions
  • Accurate documentation, record keeping, and archiving along with verifying previous status of work for completion is a critical job function
  • Possess your own basic hand tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense

  • Non-destructive testing experience
  • Inspection/quality assurance experience
  • Mechanical and Electrical experience
  • Pipe hanger installation experience
  • Structural experience
  • Knowledge of shipboard assemblies, installations, components, and structures
  • Metal fabrication experience
  • Military shipbuilding experience
  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
  • Related military/Navy experience

  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, weld symbols and diagrams
  • Basic mathematical skills
