Overview

The Electric Boat shipyard is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth, with existing facilities undergoing renovations and new buildings under construction with more to come.  Now is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team responsible for shaping the future of the shipyard.

 

This role within the Facilities Engineering Department includes two main duties, troubleshooting/maintaining existing shipyard infrastructure systems and new construction project management.  Responsibilities for project management includes scope development, preparing bid documents, vendor selection, securing funding, preparing purchase requisitions and in field project management of vendors and EB personnel all while maintaining the project budget, project schedule and project documents. 

 

Candidates should be well rounded and be expected to work on the following: 

  • All aspects of docks and building envelopes, shipyard roadways, crane rail systems, underground utility systems, roofs systems, water based systems (fire protection, potable, sanitary sewage), compressed gas systems (nitrogen, argon, oxygen, propane), compressed air systems (high pressure air, low pressure air) boiler and steam systems, HVAC, industrial ventilation, submarine support system (land based steaming, salt water cooling), waste water treatment plant and water purification plant.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associates Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture 
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities engineering, plant engineering or construction 

Preferred:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture

Skills

  • Knowledge of state and local building codes 
  • Candidate will interface with local city building officials as well as Naval oversight. 
  • Candidate must be self-motivating, be able to work independently, possess good communications skills and be proficient technically.
