We are a full-service distributor of Generac equipment and solutions providing sales, service and rentals.

The Generator Technician Master is responsible for providing on-site and phone troubleshooting, repair, equipment modifications, installation, and sales support for Generac industrial products. This role will mentor, train, and assist in the development of all technicians. This position will require up to 50% travel.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform technical skills, including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators

  • Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner

  • Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio

  • Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems

  • Assist the operations department with personal scheduling and other technician scheduling

  • Support special engineering project for new sales and project management

  • Perform quality assurance and quality control

  • Assist in training Industrial and MPS technicians on proper start up techniques

  • Mentor technicians to the highest standard, providing an example to follow in all situations

  • Provide phone support for team members during and after normal business hours

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Education - High School Diploma Certification / License

  • Generac Master Certification or equivalent Work Experience

  • 8 years in advanced troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)

  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems

  • Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products

  • Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous engines

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision

  • Working knowledge of transfer switch operations ·

  • Spark Ignited knowledge

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series courses

  • Ability to work and communicate well with others

  • Ability to provide detailed reports within 24 hours

  • Ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely manner

  • Excellent conflict resolution skills

  • Able to observe, identify and relay critical information to the company, customers, or coworker

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
