About this role

Are you an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist looking to progress your career? We're looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist (Lead) to join our growing team. We are open to filling this position in our Mississauga, ON or London, ON offices.

At GEMTEC, we offer something different. We’re an employee-owned, 400-person multi-disciplinary consulting firm—not too big, not too small. We’re large enough to compete head-to-head with publicly traded engineering giants, but still small enough to maintain the culture and flexibility of a close-knit team.

Our size and hands-on management style let us move quickly, embrace new opportunities, and empower our people to shape their own careers—without getting lost in corporate bureaucracy.

You’re an ideal candidate if you have:

  • 20+ years of applicable consulting experience.
  • Understanding of applicable Provincial and Federal regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment where teamwork and collaboration are paramount.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with an unwavering commitment to quality.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • People management / leadership skills and experience.

A typical day on the job might look like:

  • Provide technical support and oversight to a wide variety of physical hydrogeology projects and prepare proposals and reports in collaboration with other senior staff (including hydrogeological, contaminated sites, geotechnical, surface water, etc.).
  • Design and oversee field investigations such as drilling, coring and test pitting logging; soil and bedrock description and characterization; monitoring well and groundwater/surface water instrumentation installation; single- and multi-well pumping tests; soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water sampling; infiltration rate testing; and private well monitoring.
  • Lead and assist junior and intermediate staff preparing technical proposals and reports, including hydrogeological characterization assessments; impact assessments, groundwater supply and source water protection studies and approvals; quarry, mine pit and construction dewatering assessments and permitting; water balance assessments; and groundwater and surface water interaction and monitoring programs. Provide technical review of hydrogeological deliverables.
  • Provide mentorship and technical coaching to junior and intermediate technical staff.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients.
  • Provide senior support and leadership within the GTA / London operations; may include staff / team lead opportunities.
  • Engage with our senior leaders in the GTA and Ontario business, providing input, developing and leading strategic initiatives.
  • Adhering to all company policies.
  • Other duties as required.

The good stuff you get:

  • Fair pay plus extra: competitive salary with year-end profit-sharing bonus.
  • Complete health & dental coverage including vision, paramedical services, and Teladoc.
  • Retirement planning made easier with a 5% employer match on your contributions.
  • Paid time off (vacation and sick days) plus Employee & Family Assistance Program when you need it.
  • Office year-end closure (paid time off between Christmas and the New Year).

Your background and what you bring:

  • Completion of a relevant university degree(s) in physical hydrogeology, engineering, or geology (advanced/graduate level degrees considered an asset).
  • Demonstrated experience with the application of physical hydrogeology to greenfield and brownfield land development, municipal, provincial and federal infrastructure, private and municipal water supply, and nuclear power projects / sectors.
  • Flow and transport modelling experience using industry standard software is preferred.
  • Experience liaising with clients, stakeholders and agencies is mandatory; public consultation and expert witness experience would be an asset.
  • People management / team leadership experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000 CAD Annually
