Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our deli section. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation, food safety, and retail food service environments. Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of deli items, including slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, and maintaining product freshness.
- Operate POS systems accurately for sales transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing.
- Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli area, including food handling and sanitation protocols.
- Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure proper labeling of products.
- Uphold food safety standards according to health regulations and company policies.
- Clean work areas as needed to ensure a clean environment.
- Upsell products by suggesting additional items or promotions to enhance customer experience and sales.
Experience
- Prior experience in food service, deli operations, or retail grocery environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with food preparation techniques, sanitation practices, and food safety regulations.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse customers.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, making change, and inventory management.
- Previous experience working in quick service or fast-food restaurants is a plus.
- Knowledge of food industry standards related to serving, bussing, and food handling ensures compliance with safety protocols. Qualifications
- Prior Deli service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
