The School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science education in the world. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.   

We are currently seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in RNA Epigenetics who can apply and refine their expertise in research methodologies, design and delivery to contribute to the university's standing as a national leader in the discipline. The primary purpose of this role is to elucidate novel functions of RNA modifications in cancer. They engage in research either independently or as part of a research team.

This role is ideally suited to a motivated and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a research-focused environment and contributing to outcomes that support the school’s research agenda.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • contribute to the design and development of research protocols, ensuring timely execution of research activities

  • coordinate and submit grant applications, ensuring compliance with all requirements

  • assist with data collection and analysis, ensuring data quality and accuracy

  • collaborate with researchers, clinical specialists and affiliated partners to share findings and progress

  • manage the documentation process for research publications, including drafting, submission and maintenance of research records

  • undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

About you

  • a BSc (Honours) in a relevant field (Molecular and Cellular Biology, Epigenetics, RNA Biology)

  • experience in conducting research within a research-intensive or higher education environment

  • experience conducting scientific literature searches

  • experience managing, reporting and disseminating research data.

  • excellent attention to detail and demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and reliable scientific records

  • well-developed verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
