About the Opportunity

The University of Sydney is seeking a motivated and reliable Farm Hand to support operations at our Poultry Research Farm based at the Camden campus. This is a labour‑intensive, hands‑on role working directly with poultry. Daily tasks include checking and weighing chickens, cleaning, completing routine observation forms, recording feed intake and body weight if required and supporting general farm activities. Aside from basic animal‑related record keeping, this role involves minimal administrative work.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • support the day‑to‑day operations of the poultry farm under supervision

  • assist with daily poultry care routines and monitor birds for signs of health issues

  • check, weigh, and observe chickens as part of routine flock management

  • assist with the handling, cleaning, and storage of farm tools and equipment

  • assist with compiling data for reports and help maintain simple records

  • follow all health and safety procedures, report hazards promptly, and maintain a clean and safe workspace

About You

  • experience working in an animal farm environment; poultry experience highly regarded

  • strong work ethic and genuine interest in working with animals

  • effective communication skills

  • ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • certificate II in a relevant field (desirable but not essential)
