Job DetailsJob Location: Percy Village - Los Angeles, CA 90023Salary Range: $25.36 - $26.39 Hourly Title of Position: Case Aide Location: Gateways - Percy Village Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Union/ Non-Union: Union Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor   Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.   SUMMARY OF POSITION The Case Aide provides rehabilitative and case management services in a residential setting for adults ages 18 to 59 who are diagnosed with chronic and persistent mental health disorders. Services include individual and group rehabilitative treatment, linkage and transportation to community resources, and assistance with crisis intervention. The Case Aide is a member of the multi-disciplinary team whose primary function is to provide services to residents that will minimize functional impairments, increase their independence, and prepare them for transitions to lower levels of care in the community.  Bilingual Pay: Individuals who are bilingual in Spanish are eligible for an additional $1.25 per hour.   ESSENTIALS DUTIES Supervise, monitor and document resident behavior as it pertains to progress/regress in treatment Assist residents in establishing and maintaining Social Security Benefits, MediCal benefits, Medicare benefits, etc. Assist residents in obtaining CA identification cards, Social Security Cards, MediCal cards, MTA Passes, etc. Assist in situational crisis intervention, to include providing support to client(s), contacting emergency services when needed (e.g., PMRT, LAPD,etc.), providing updates to conservators and staff, consulting with clinicians and supervisor to implement safety plans. Facilitate group treatment Act as primary point of contact, when needed, to coordinate passes, provide treatment updates to pre-authorized individuals and/or conservators (e.g., participation in treatment, medication compliance, compliance with house rules, etc.), Monitor, assist and document compliance with ADLs. Provide individual rehabilitative services to clients to address functional impairments. Provide transportation to appointments in the community when needed. Collaborate with members of the treatment team to evaluate clients’ progress/regress in treatment and modify/implement interventions when indicated.   Submit progress notes and other client documentation within designated timeframes. Meet agency service delivery benchmarks. Assist with other projects/duties as assigned by supervisor   ESSENTIAL SKILLS Ability to work and relate effectively with multi-disciplinary treatment team, clients and public. Ability to assess patients for dangerousness and intervene in a timely, calm and appropriate manner. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Ability to work independently, uses good judgement, and remains calm in crisis situations. Knowledge of basic counseling skills.  Understanding of individual, group and family psychotherapy. Legible handwriting. Ability to work various hours and shifts. Ability to work indoors and outdoors (i.e., cottage checks and transportation of supplies). Ability to remain calm, objective and dependable in situations where residents are emotional or uncooperative, and situations where there are assignments that must be met. Ability to be objective, stable and firm with clients who have a history of criminal behavior and who have mental disabilities. Ability to appropriately accept orders and instructions from supervisors.  Ability to appropriately give orders and instructions to clients. QualificationsEDUCATION & CERTIFICATES Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related area   EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS Prior paraprofessional counseling or paraprofessional psychiatric nursing experience. Academic training in Behavioral Sciences.   REQUIREMENTS Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance. Valid California Driver’s license. TB clearance.
