About this role
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP for nonprofit organizations.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain and monitor fund accounting and donor-restricted funds.
- Develop and maintain compliance with internal financial controls and company policies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS nonprofit requirements.
- Oversee accounting systems and chart of accounts.
- Ensure proper documentation and record retention.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and ongoing budget monitoring.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the staff on your team (4 staff members). Foster a culture of accountability, service, and collaboration within the finance team and organization.
- Communicate and analyze variances and trends.
- Lead annual audit and year end process.
- Oversee 1099 and contribution statement distribution.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA preferred (or strong progress toward certification)
- Minimum 3-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience
- Experience with nonprofit or church accounting strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and fund accounting
- Experience leading audits and working with external auditors
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems
