About this role

About GalaxEye Space
GalaxEye Space is a pioneer in the Earth Observation (EO) industry, building the world's first multi-sensor imaging satellite. By combining Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Multi-Spectral Imager (MSI) through our proprietary SyncFused technology, we provide high-resolution, all-weather, and day-night imaging capabilities that were previously impossible. We are looking for a Senior Image Analyst to join our Data team in delivering world-class imagery products.

As a Senior Image Analyst, you will be the technical cornerstone of the Data Operations team. You will bridge the gap between complex engineering parameters and final image quality across both space-borne and drone-borne platforms. Your primary focus will be ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and interpretability of X-band SAR, MSI, and SyncFused products. This role requires a deep technical understanding of sensor physics, signal processing, and quality control frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Algorithm Feasibility & Image Optimization
Research and evaluate the feasibility of new processing algorithms to enhance image quality (e.g., speckle reduction in SAR, pan-sharpening in MSI, or co-registration in SyncFused).
Identify bottlenecks in the data pipeline that impact visual and radiometric fidelity.
Collaborate with the Engineering and Edge/Cloud deployment teams to ensure algorithm scalability for real-time or near-real-time processing.

2. Drone-Borne Data Operations & Analysis
Lead the image analysis for drone-based sensor testing and data collection campaigns.
Perform end-to-end processing of aerial SAR and MSI data, ensuring high-fidelity outputs that mirror satellite-equivalent products.
Use drone-borne data as a primary tool for "ground-truthing" and prototyping SyncFused algorithms before satellite deployment.

3. Team Leadership & Mentorship
Overlook the daily workflows of the Junior Image Analyst team across satellite and drone data streams.
Develop and lead training modules on EO fundamentals, specifically focusing on the nuances of X-band SAR (phase, intensity, polarization) and MSI (spectral bands, atmospheric correction).
Conduct peer reviews of imagery analysis reports to maintain high internal standards.

4. Parameter Sensitivity & Constraint Analysis
Master the interplay between orbital/flight parameters (incidence angles, look direction, altitude, revisit times) and sensor configurations.
Convey the limitations of imagery based on specific mission constraints or algorithm edge cases to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Troubleshoot artifacts and anomalies in data products originating from sensor hardware or processing software (e.g., motion compensation issues in drone SAR).

5. Calibration & Validation (Cal/Val)
Design and execute Cal/Val campaigns for both SAR and MSI sensors using corner reflectors, transponders, and spectral targets.
Monitor radiometric and geometric accuracy over time to ensure product consistency.
Utilize drone-acquired data for cross-sensor validation to verify the accuracy of satellite-based SyncFused products.

6. QA/QC Framework for Satellite & Drone Delivery
Establish and refine the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) evaluation frameworks for all data deliveries.
Lead the QA/QC process for drone-borne data delivery, ensuring that aerial data meets client specifications and internal R&D requirements.
Define objective metrics for image quality, such as Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), Impulse Response Function (IRF) for SAR, and Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) for MSI.
Implement automated QC scripts to expedite the delivery of data products.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications
-Educational Background: Master’s or PhD in Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
-Experience: 3+ years in EO data analysis, with a proven track record in both SAR and Optical/MSI data processing.

Technical Expertise:
-Proficient in Python (including libraries like GDAL, NumPy, Rasterio).
-Deep understanding of X-band SAR phenomenology (Back-scatter, SAR Interferometry, etc.).
-Experience with Multisensor data fusion and co-registration challenges.
-Tools: Proficiency with industry-standard software (ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, SNAP, QGIS)
-Soft Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical constraints into actionable business insights.

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with signal processing algorithms for SAR.
-Familiarity with AI/ML techniques for automated feature extraction or denoising.
-Knowledge of international EO standards (CEOS, OGC).
