Assistant Plant Manager
Job Summary:
The Assistant Plant Manager plays a key role in overseeing plant operations, supporting production goals, ensuring safety standards, and collaborating across departments. This position serves as a second-in-command to the Plant Manager, with leadership duties spanning production, post production, and personnel development.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and coordinate daily precast production schedules
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide hands-on support to teams
- Ensure product quality standards are consistently met
- Enforce all safety policies and OSHA regulations across the plant
- Ensures that employees comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe practices throughout the facility
- Assist in managing raw material inventory and usage
- Optimize material flow and staging areas to minimize delays
- Supervise production leads and hourly workforce
- Support training and development of new and existing employees
- Maintain accountability, attendance, and performance standards
- Notifies the maintenance department of equipment problems.
- Support equipment maintenance and preventative programs
- Collaborate with engineering, logistics, and QC teams to resolve issues
- Assist the Plant Manager in data reporting, allocating personnel resources, and continuous improvement
- Ensures paperwork is completed and signed correctly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or construction
- Experience in precast concrete or similar industrial manufacturing environments
- Comfortable with digital systems, spreadsheets, and production software
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include vision, distant vision, color vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
- May require traveling 25% of the time.
