Join us as a Leading Hand - Maintenance in Palmerston North.

We’re seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our busy Maintenance Team. In this dynamic, hands-on position, you’ll supervise your team to deliver high-quality maintenance work, acting as an essential link between management and crews. Your responsibilities will include planning and assigning tasks, as well as hands on work supporting your team with both machinery and labouring tasks.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Undertake planned road maintenance including overseeing repairs on kerbs, channel, footpaths and carriageways

  • Take part in pre-start meetings and risk planning before starting work

  • Assist Foreman/Supervisor with daily workflow

  • Other general planned maintenance repairs and tasks

  • Assist with training less skilled staff on the correct operations of machinery and equipment

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience within a civil construction/road maintenance environment

  • Full class 2 licence with Wheels, Tracks, Rollers endorsements

  • Good time management skills and the ability to follow procedures, instructions, plans and schedules

  • Experience in leading a crew

  • Experience and understanding of traffic management requirements on sites

  • Self-motivated, can-do attitude and a team player

  • Physically fit and able to perform physically demanding tasks

  • Good understanding of site safety and hazard management

  • Excellent communication with co-workers and management
