We are seeking an Asset & Quality Engineer to provide support to the Asset & Quality Manager for our new IDC contract in partnership with NZTA, serving the Manawatū and Whanganui regions. Commencing May 2026, you will work collaboratively to deliver road and footpath repairs, maintain clean streets, manage streetlights and signage, oversee drainage and vegetation maintenance, and respond to emergencies. Your contribution will improve service quality and resilience for our communities, whilst ensuring all activities meet required standards and stakeholder expectations.

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality management systems to ensure excellence in project delivery. You’ll oversee teams to guarantee that work meets industry standards, lead initiatives for continuous improvement, and enforce strict assurance protocols. You’ll also collaborate with stakeholders, regularly update quality management plans, and drive the achievement of new benchmarks in project outcomes.
 

In addition to the above you will:   

  • Oversee and maintain the quality of operational teams’ work through inspections, monitoring, and adherence to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage contractual procedures for scope changes, direct operations, and sub-contractor agreements
  • Collaborate with Operations and Renewal Managers to prepare and submit reports, claims, and project programmes on time, and to coordinate resources for efficient project delivery
  • Provide leadership to staff, supporting performance and high standards within the team
  • Build strong professional relationships with NZTA and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and cooperation
  • Assist with additional duties or projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Engineering (BE), NZ Certificate in Engineering (NZCE), or a relevant diploma, or have significant industry experience, showing strong technical expertise in road and infrastructure maintenance
  • Have five years’ experience planning, delivering, and overseeing large-scale operational projects in road or infrastructure environments
  • Experienced in managing and developing teams, with a background in leading staff, fostering positive work cultures, and supporting performance
  • Demonstrate comprehensive departmental knowledge, including NZTA standards, contract management, quality assurance, and integrating these processes into operations
  • Hold relevant safety certification, showing commitment to safe work practices
  • Class 1 driver’s licence
