Join us as a Fitter/Welder in our Timaru based workshop!  

Due to the expansion of our operations, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Fitter/Welder to join our Timaru team. We are seeking a versatile individual who takes pride in delivering quality service and outstanding results. As a Fitter/Welder, you will produce parts or tools, fit and assemble them as needed and complete any other fitting/welding works as set by your manager.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Complete various project works/new equipment builds (including in-house design)
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance of equipment
  • Provide support to on-site crews and their equipment (including fabrication, diagnostics and maintenance)

We’re looking for someone with:  

  • Relevant industry experience, preferably within the transport sector
  • Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Fitting & Machining) 
  • Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 is advantageous)
  • Skills in on-site repairs and maintenance of fixed and mobile plant equipment
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing crushing and asphalt plants.
  • Experience in truck and trailer body builds and repairs.
  • Competent in reading & interpreting engineering drawings
  • Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive approach to Health and Safety - it’s our #1 priority
  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills
  • A positive can-do attitude, willingness to learn new skills and most importantly, a good sense of humour
