Position Overview

The Tech 2, Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and operational reliability of the instrumentation and controls that support facility-wide equipment, and facility systems through effective Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and Calibration practices and know-how.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Performs intermediate instrumentation and controls troubleshooting, repairs, preventive and corrective maintenance to all site equipment, systems, process measurement and control, utility, laboratory, and bench-top instrumentation
  • Performs calibrations to instrumentation and controls
  • Follows standard procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) quality standards
  • Provides input and recommendation for written instruction of preventive maintenance tasks and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Assists in the development of maintenance and calibration procedures and programs
  • Performs loop checks for new instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Performs lock out tag out (LOTO) as required to complete I&C/Metrology activities
  • Mentors’ entry-level technicians
  • Adheres to all safety requirements and follow safe work practices
  • Notifies management or Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) when unsafe conditions or hazards are found
  • Supports site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours, as needed
  • Performs spare parts assessments, as required
  • Other duties, as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Effective communication, both written and oral
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Must be able to support 24/7 manufacturing facility, including shift, on-call, and weekends

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2-4 years of I&C or similar experience 
  • Experience with tools and equipment used to perform maintenance work

Preferred Skills

  • Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering or a related field
  • Prior I&C experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or other regulated environment
  • Prior experience working in a GMP environment
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
