Fugro is looking for a motivated Project Geophysicist to join our UK Land Site Characterisation team and play a key part in delivering high quality geophysical insight for projects that shape infrastructure, energy and the environment. As a Project Geophysicist, you will take ownership of the full project lifecycle from planning and acquisition to processing, reporting and client engagement. You will collaborate with a talented network of geoscience professionals and contribute to the technical excellence that defines Fugro’s global reputation.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Acquire, process, interpret and report land geophysical data
  • Operate a range of land geophysical survey equipment and plant
  • Plan and carry out field operations and support project delivery
  • Lead low to medium complexity projects or work within a wider team
  • Liaise with clients throughout field and reporting phases
  • Prepare project documentation including survey plans, protocols, risk assessments, method statements and quality plans
  • Complete premobilisation equipment checks and calibrations
  • Coordinate with approved suppliers for third party equipment and plant
  • Carry out regular data quality control during fieldwork
  • Meet daily reporting requirements for client and Fugro
  • Maintain quality, health, safety, security and environmental standards during field operations
  • Oversee equipment and plant checks throughout fieldwork
  • Back up and transfer geophysical data and site notes
  • Ensure field operations stay on schedule and record any standby time
  • Implement data processing protocols and carry out processing tasks
  • Produce factual and interpretative geophysical reports
  • Prepare project deliverables for client submission
  • Review and respond to client comments and queries
  • Contribute to project close out and lessons learned
  • Support technical development through presentations and contributions to technical material

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

  • Degree in Earth Science or a similar subject
  • Experience working with land geophysical survey equipment and data
  • Ability to plan and carry out field operations
  • Strong communication skills for client and internal liaison
  • Ability to work within project teams and support junior staff
  • Good organisational skills for managing documentation and project tasks
  • Ability to carry out data processing and quality control
  • Strong problem-solving skills during field and reporting phases
  • Commitment to quality, health, safety, security and environmental standards
  • Eagerness to travel for fieldwork within the United Kingdom & Overseas
  • A full UK manual driving licence
  • Proficiency in English

What experience is advantageous to this role:

  • Experience in a relevant Earth Science profession
  • Certification such as Construction Skills Certification Scheme, Emergency First Aid at Work and Institution of Occupational Safety and Health Managing Safely or willingness to obtain them
