Job Summary:

The Transplant Coordinator - BMT is an experienced bone marrow transplant nurse who acts as a liaison between patients, families, hospital staff, and referring physicians for patients undergoing Bone Marrow Transplant. The responsibilities span the pre and post transplant period. Responsibilities include participating in clinical management in collaboration with all necessary disciplines to coordinate patient services and education across the continuum of care, ensuring coordination of care. The Transplant Coordinator plays a vital role in the assessment, education and the coordination of care of patients and their families required throughout the transplantation process. Patient care is provided based on the nursing process. The Transplant Coordinator mentors others to promote quality and excellence of care and works collaboratively with and provides leadership within the multi disciplinary health care team to optimize outcomes. Other activities include the collection and maintenance of data required for patient care, research and reporting to outside agencies. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

3 years experience in clinical oncology nursing is required. BMT clinical experience preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, staff hired prior to July 1st, 2026 may be grandfathered into role if they have an Associate's Degree in Nursing and a total of 10 or more years of experience in oncology nursing and bone marrow transplant coordination.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Experience in Microsoft Office needed is required.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days. OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) is preferred.
