About this role

The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT in Itzehoe offers a forward-looking research and manufacturing environment for approximately 190 employees and several location partners, with a technology-oriented equipment pool, two clean rooms, and approximately 700 m² of laboratory space. Our business unit »Power Electronics« focuses on the development of processes and devices based on gallium nitride. This includes lateral AlGaN/GaN HEMTs, vertical GaN MOSFETs and diodes, as well as GaN based MEMS, sensors, and microelectronic components, with a focus on development and adaptation of technologies and processes for their reliable fabrication.

 

Be part of change

  • You will manage industrial and third-party funded projects with a focus on GaN power devices and semiconductor membranes.
  • In addition, you will be involved in the acquisition of projects.
  • You will competently present our product portfolio for GaN power devices, e.g., at trade fairs and conferences, and represent Fraunhofer ISIT externally.
  • You will expertly coordinate and work on subprojects or work packages within projects, e.g., for component design, manufacturing, and characterization.
  • Last but not least, you will document your results and communicate them both internally and in external publications, and exploit them in patents.

 

What you contribute

  • University degree (master's/diploma) in electrical engineering or a comparable discipline, preferably with a doctorate
  • Extensive experience in managing applied research projects
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing technologies and processes, preferably specific to GaN, is an advantage
  • Experience in semiconductor device design and simulation (e.g., Cadence respectively Comsol), and in data preparation and modeling (e.g., Matlab, Python) is an advantage
  • Fluent written and spoken English, knowledge of German is an advantage
  • Confident manner when dealing with potential customers, an organized approach to complex problems, a high degree of commitment, and joy in taking on responsibility within a team

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is initially limited to two years. However, we are interested in long-term cooperation.
