The Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME in Münster offers an innovative research platform for the improved use of plant-based raw materials. Our tasks include proof of concept and transfer to industrial implementation. Various modern methods of plant biotechnology from the fields of process engineering, biochemistry, and analytics are of utmost importance for this.

The successful candidate will work within a research and development project focusing on the identification, functional molecular characterization, and purification of plant-produced endolysins. Key responsibilities include core molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA cloning and expression construct design), with a particular emphasis on the isolation and purification of recombinant endolysins from chloroplasts. In addition, the position involves the implementation of bioinformatic analyses for the identification of natural endolysins as well as the computational development and optimization of tailor-made endolysin variants using modern bioinformatic methods and tools.
