As the ideal candidate, you are a quick learner who can memorize scripts and adapt them when issues arise during a call; understand the importance of meeting qualitative and quantitative targets for yourself and your team; and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle difficult situations, emotional callers, and sensitive details calmly. You have or are able to set up a home office that meets confidentiality and ergonomic requirements. You will handle a variety of important supportive tasks, providing answers, insights, instructions, and assistance for health authority employees across BC, primarily focused on conducting phone interviews regarding workplace incidents, injuries, and exposures in order to meet WorkSafeBC regulation and Occupational Health & Safety best practices. You are a vital part of the process, gaining the details and information required to launch the Employer’s Report of Injury to WSBC, the investigation by the employer, and connect the employee with supportive resources. As the voice of, and often first point of contact for, provincial health authority incident reporting, you must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as be enthusiastic about helping people and truly making a difference in their workplace experience.

On behalf of the FHA, VIHA, VCH, PHSA, PHC, BCCSS, NHA, IHA, and BCEHS responsible for interviewing employees utilizing contact centre software and multichannel applications to obtain required details regarding incidents/exposures/near misses and enters information into into the respective Health Authorities' Workplace Health Indicator Tracking and Evaluation (WHITE) database system ensuring the information is complete. Initiates incident investigation as per WorkSafeBC (WSBC) regulations and processes incident report for preparation of the Employer's Report of Injury or Occupational Disease for submission to WSBC.
Acts as a resource and contact for internal and external inquiries to the Workplace Health Departments within each Health Authority; provides contact information regarding early intervention and refers as appropriate in accordance with established procedures. Compiles and maintains statistical data; produces and distributes summaries, reports and tracking sheets.
Education, Training & Experience
Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription and one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
