The Surgical Technologist II performs various tasks supporting perioperative services within the Franciscan team. This position assists multiple disciplines within the operating room by preparing patients and equipment for procedures, and maintaining environmental standards. This position, also, provides technical assistance to surgeons by anticipating procedures and equipment. The Surgical Technologist measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents, and other solutions.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Full-time, 40 Hours per week

  • Day shift

  • Arrange instrument trays

  • Prepare sterile drapes and solutions,

  • Assist with prep of patients as needed.

  • Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical assistants.

  • May assist with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery.

  • May operate suction, diagnostic, and sterilizing equipment, and package specimens to take for laboratory analysis.

Surgical and minimally invasive procedures, including:

  • Coronary artery bypass

  • Valve repair and replacement

  • Carotid endarterectomy

  • Video-assisted thoracic surgery for lung procedures

  • EVAR

  • TEVAR

  • Minimally invasive heart procedures, including TAVR

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • 1 year Surgery Preferred
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association within 90 Days Required and
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA Required
