The Behavioral Health Advisor at Franciscan holds the important responsibility of providing direct patient care to hospitalized psychiatric and chemically dependent patients. This position strives to maintain a stable, therapeutic environment, monitors patient’s moods and behaviors, and ensures an adherence to program structure. The Behavioral Health Advisor works closely under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, to ensure patient safety and progress.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Monitor and assess changes in the tone and quality of the therapeutic milieu, and address potential concerns that threaten patients' optimal safety, healing, and supportive environment.
  • De-escalate situations involving agitated or aggressive patients to prevent behavioral-based safety hazards using established principles in de-escalation, including potential application of physical restraints.
  • Successfully pass Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
  • Observe, record, and monitor behaviors related to risk of patient suicide.
  • Communicate and document patient care information in accordance to policy and procedure, and ensure report of critical changes in the clients condition.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Psychology , Social Work or related field
  • 1 year Social Services Preferred
  • Crisis Intervention (CI)
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
