JOB DESCRIPTION

 We're looking for a writer to help us keep our commerce content library up to date.

You’re a shopping-obsessed self-starter with strong news judgment who thrives under pressure and keeps a laser-sharp focus on metrics. You’re a seasoned and savvy shopper always on the lookout for a deal, and aware of every new product launch.

This role will be responsible for revising, updating and optimizing our commerce content to ensure it is timely, accurate and relevant. This content will include product reviews, buying guides, and deal roundups.

The role will report to the production editor, and work closely with the commerce content, partnerships and growth teams to ensure content is updated in a timely manner, and is always accurate.

 

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write and produce 6-10 pieces of shoppable content roundups and breakout articles a week.

• Ensuring our content library is up to date with correct pricing and product information

• Research and write supplemental commerce content including  buyers guide and pros and cons. This may involve conducting interviews to improve content

• Research new products and trends, as well as competitor content picks, to make sure we always make the best recommendations to our readers.

• Keeping on top of new product launches to ensure our content always has the most up to date products. This may involve helping test and review new products.

• Pitching new content ideas

• Analyze market trends to discover the best products we should be recommending

• Thoroughly price-check each article prior to initial publish and before any scheduled republishes 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• An obsessive interest in products and shopping – you should be that one friend that people always come to for shopping advice

• At least 2 years’ worth of digital experience (preferably in journalism or content-related affiliate commerce/marketing), including SEO expertise

• Ability to work in deadline-driven conditions and work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment 

• Daily experience working within a CMS (familiarity with WordPress preferred)

• Proven track record of executing revenue-driving articles (both deals-centric and evergreen)

• Passionate about service journalism and delivering high quality content

• Well-versed in using data and reporting tools to inform editorial ideas

• Familiarity with digital publishing tools and trends; experience with generative AI tools is a must-have.

• Ability to be extremely flexible, work on holidays as needed, and always “on-call” mentality and be prepared to work under emergency or breaking news conditions 

• Experience in closely monitoring and driving audience growth

NICE TO HAVE:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Familiarity with AP Style

• Strong understanding of the digital lifestyle and commerce spaces in all verticals ranging from tech to beauty

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $60,000.00-80,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
