Food Service Director
JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee and initiate duties related to food service while supervising food service staff members. Meet all regulatory requirements, health standards, and maintain quality food service within budget. Assist in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for the residents.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage
▪ Supervise and delegate responsibilities to food service staff
▪ Create and manage work schedule for food service staff
▪ Complete team member performance evaluations per company schedule
▪ Interview, select, and train food service team members
▪ Manage team member relations (e.g. coach, mentor, discipline, handle grievances, etc.)
▪ Maintain a safe and sanitary environment; ensure food service staff are following health inspection regulations
▪ Monitor and maintain the budget; ensure it is not exceeded by preparing a spend down sheet
▪ Function as part of the management team (manager on duty coverage, presenting the community, planning and participating in staff meetings, planning and implementing marketing and community events)
Maintain Supplies
▪ Determine and order food, supplies and equipment
▪ Record and supervise the storage of incoming food and supplies
▪ Maintain kitchenware and equipment
Plan and Prepare Meals/Menus
▪ Acquire meal options from dietician and plan meals accordingly ensuring portion control and special diet requirements are met
▪ Prepare meals according to planned menus
▪ Ensure all foods and supplies are readily available for next meals
▪ Prepare and distribute menus
▪ Maintain state required dietary records
Other Duties
▪ Supervise and participate in cleaning duties
▪ Meet with residents to acquire menu suggestions and/or complaints
▪ Assist coworkers with other duties as needed
▪ Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ High School diploma or equivalent required
▪ Culinary arts degree preferred
▪ 3-5 years experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or service environment preferred
▪ Have or obtain CPR and First-Aid certifications, Serv-Safe certification is required
▪ Desire to interact with and fulfill the culinary needs of seniors
▪ Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others
▪ Ability to relate to residents, families, team members, and vendors in a cooperative and positive manner
▪ Ability to manage team processes and promote a team environment
