Specific eligibility and coverage details will be provided during the hiring process**</em></p></div><p><strong>Job Summary:</strong></p> <p>VFS Fire &amp; Security is expanding its BDA/ERRCS (Public Safety DAS) division and seeking an experienced Designer/Estimator to join our team in Orange, CA. This role is ideal for someone who understands code-driven life safety systems, can translate requirements into compliant designs and accurate estimates, and wants to be part of a growing, technically strong in-house team - not a remote drafting mill.</p> <p>You’ll work closely with operations, sales, and field leadership to support design-build projects, plan review responses, bid support, and system optimization for BDA/ERRCS installations. As part of a stable, well-established fire protection company, you’ll join a growing BDA/ERRCS market with strong leadership support, in-house design and estimating (no outsourcing), and a clear path for growth as this segment expands.</p> <p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design BDA/ERRCS (Public Safety DAS) systems in compliance with: IFC, NFPA, and local AHJ requirements</li> <li>Perform takeoffs and estimating for BDA/ERRCS projects.</li> <li>Develop and review: <ul> <li>Coverage layouts</li> <li>Riser diagrams</li> <li>Equipment schedules</li> <li>Signal strength test data (when applicable)</li> </ul> </li> <li>Support sales and operations with: <ul> <li>Pre-bid reviews</li> <li>Scope clarification</li> <li>Value engineering</li> </ul> </li> <li>Coordinate with AHJs, GC teams, and internal project managers.</li> <li>Maintain documentation for plan submittals and closeout packages.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills &amp; Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years experience with BDA/ERRCS or DAS systems (design, estimating, or both).</li> <li>NICET certification (Fire Alarm, Level II–IV).</li> <li>RF or DAS-specific training/certifications.</li> <li>Strong understanding of fire/life safety and low-voltage systems. Fire alarm or life safety system background highly preferred.</li> <li>Familiarity with: <ul> <li>IFC / NFPA requirements</li> <li>Public Safety radio enhancement systems</li> </ul> </li> <li>Ability to read architectural, electrical, and fire alarm drawings.</li> <li>Comfortable working in-office with cross-functional teams.</li> <li>AutoCAD or similar design software experience preferred.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting AHJ plan reviews or testing coordination.</li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p></p> <p><em>This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire &amp; Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting.
