Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE 
The purpose of the Instrument Technician is to ensure the efficient operation of process instrumentation.

 

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY 
1. Troubleshoot and repair all conventional instrumentation including DCS and Analyzers.
2. Complete daily paperwork as required.
3. On call duty
4. Complete daily route check of assigned area.
5. Calibration of all conventional instrumentation, Analyzers & DCS.
6. Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements.
7. Work outside normal shift hours and work on-call as needed.
8. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
9. Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.
10. Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA 
1. Previous Related Experience Required
2 years of experience (PLC, Analyzer & DCS experience preferred) and a high school diploma or equivalent; Or Associate degree in Instrumentation or Electronics or related fields.

 

2. Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job

• Safety Certification or safety classes a plus but not required.

• Troubleshooting the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently

• Preventive maintenance knowledge
• Good communication skills
• Accountability and reliability
• Self-motivated, curious and eager to learn
• Complete Daily Route Check of assigned areas

 

3. Education 
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Valid Driver’s License
3. Be able to obtain within 90 days of employment and hold a “TWIC” –Transportation Workers Identification Card for duration of employment.
4. Associate degree in Instrumentation or Electronics or Two (2) years’ experience (PLC, Analyzer & DCS experience preferred)

 

4. Other Certification/Training Required
• Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
• Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
• Must participate in the following subject training and pass required certifications.
