About this role

The Manufacturing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Product Management Supervisor is responsible for ongoing development, deployment, and management of several IT products built on top of the Ford IIoT Platform. This position will manage multiple development teams working on expanding the current Zone Control Center product suite to develop a Department, Plant and Business level equivalent, using some of the latest infrastructure and development toolkits to deliver best-in-class functionality to plant floor users. The position is highly involved in manufacturing digitalization efforts and is pushing new boundaries across the manufacturing space.

This is a great opportunity to drive the delivery of a key enterprise objective in building Ford’s flagship products – bring Innovation in Manufacturing to have significant business impact. In this role you are responsible for ongoing development, deployment, and management of several IT products built on top of the Ford IIoT Platform. This position will manage multiple development teams working on expanding the current Zone Control Center product suite to develop a Department, Plant and Business level equivalent, using some of the latest infrastructure and development toolkits to deliver best-in-class functionality to plant floor users. The position is highly involved in manufacturing digitalization efforts and is pushing new boundaries across the manufacturing space.

 

You also get to work with a unique blend of engineers, DevOps, automation, controls, manufacturing and robotics specialists – ideating, building and scaling Billion-Dollar ideas for the manufacturing of iconic Ford products.  This position requires an individual who is customer centric, empathetic and impact focused, and believes in bringing the latest and greatest to Ford’s plant floor to build impactful use cases that can be industrialized with the latest technologies.  This is a rare opportunity to put your signature on how Ford manufactures vehicles.

  • Delivery of product functionality expansions and deployments to additional facilities worldwide
  • Day-to-day management of development teams & team members (~12 team members total)
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing personnel to scope future capabilities and new products as required
  • Oversee design and development work with the assistance of product-specific Product Managers
  • Manage engagement with international manufacturing sites as product footprint expands globally
  • Manage product metrics for consumption by both IT management and Manufacturing management as means to assess value
  • Maintain steady rolling backlog of product features in conjunction with business partners

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science or related manufacturing field, Masters Degree preferred 

  • 8+ years of knowledge of software development
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience in application development 
  • Understanding of Agile methods & best practices
  • Data-driven mindset for decision-making and prioritization
  • Internal & external management skillset for managing cross-team capabilities
  • Clear communication style both laterally to business partners as well as upwards to management
  • Ability to develop deep understanding of product functionality to provide high-level guidance to development teams
  • Ability to travel occasionally (~1-2 monthly) to SE Michigan Ford Manufacturing facilities to meet with plant personnel & end users

 

Nice to Have

  • Technical background in MongoDB & Big Query (or other noSQL technology)
  • Technical background in Software Dev, ideally web development (javascript/java springboot)
  • Technical background in cloud deployment/CI/CD technologies (GCP, Jenkins, Tekton, etc)
  • Manufacturing background & understanding of manufacturing processes

This role is ONSITE in Dearborn MI, you will be required to commute to office up to 4x a week.
