Location: Christmas Creek - located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples

 

Roster: 8D6R FIFO ex Perth

 

As the Safety Specialist you will be pivotal in the development and implementation of a robust health and safety framework, driving consistent management processes, and serving as the go-to resource for stakeholders to meet their health and safety obligations within your portfolio. Additionally, you'll collaborate with other health and safety teams and employees to deliver the strategic plan and enhance engagement and awareness of health and safety issues across the broader Fortescue team. 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Developing and implementing health and safety framework within your portfolio 
  • Be the focal point for stakeholders for advice on meeting their obligations and deliverables for health and safety across your portfolio 
  • Provide functional and technical advice to employees, contractors, and other parties on Fortescue minimum requirements
  • Influence and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure health and safety requirements are implemented 
  • Lead the oversight and management of safety activities in your portfolio to ensure health and safety strategy is implemented, and key performance indicators are achieved
  • Provide strategic advice to stakeholders across a rang of safety activities and issues
  • Complete all associated end of month reporting for your portfolio and present monthly to your portfolio stakeholders
  • Works in collaboration with key stakeholders to understand the business risk framework to effectively monitor risks and controls 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant international, national, and local health and safety regulations and standards

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Teritary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (or equivalent)
  • Adept knowledge of health and safety regulation, legal compliance, and risk management practices
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to problem solve and make practical decisions in a high stress environment 
  • Analytical minset with the ability to assess risks and develop innovative solutions to mitigate them 
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to think strategically, with consideration of the broader context of the business goals
  • Ability to operate effectively across multiple portfolios and manage conflicting schedule with the ability to prioritise
