Role Overview

The Finance Lead SEU is a pivotal member of the SEU Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CFO Malta with additional secondary reporting lines to the Senior Director SEU (Commercial) and SEA Finance Director. This is a highly strategic role, focused on leading a dedicated finance team and driving excellence in planning, reporting, analysis, negotiation, and systems management for the SEU region. The incumbent is expected to enable strategic decision-making and alignment at the highest levels, ensuring financial rigor and operational excellence in Commercial and FP&A related processes.

What you’ll do:

Strategic Finance Leadership

• Serve as a core strategic thought partner within the SEU and Malta Finance Leadership Team, influencing regional strategy and outcomes with financial acumen and insight.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals responsible for execution across all finance functions.

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, integrity, and accountability.

Planning & Forecasting

• Coordinate all planning activities for the SEU region, including Budget, Long-Term Planning (LTP), and Forecast cycles.

• Provide clear timing, instructions, and frameworks for country Leads and central Flutter SEA to ensure unified and comprehensive deliverables.

• Deliver accurate, timely data and actionable insights to the SEU team to drive strategic decision-making and alignment with overarching business objectives.

• Lead the analysis and forecasting process for Cash Flow, Balance Sheet, and Below EBITDA items, ensuring robust, data-driven outputs.

• Oversee sub-consolidation activities and ensure the delivery of timely, accurate regular and periodic financial reports in alignment with Flutter SEA requirements (including for revenues, Non-Financial KPIs, detailed P&L analysis under both IFRS and US GAAP, Capex, SDI, Below EBITDA, and cash flow).

• Lead all sub-consolidated financial deck reviews at the SEU regional level on a monthly basis, providing management with insights, gap analysis, and thorough explanations of variations and risks.

• Lead the value assessment process, including impairment testing if required.

• Support and acknowledge the FP&A team’s finance transformation projects (e.g., US GAAP reporting, Polaris project, integration of new brands/companies) and assist in the implementation of new finance system management tools.

Reporting & Analysis

• Support the controlling process for all cross-functional units, providing guidelines, timing, targets, and in-depth analysis; recommend actions to achieve targets, including for CAPEX investments.

• Oversee the monthly closing process for cross-functional units, including outlook, post-closing gap analysis, and business insights.

• Deliver ad hoc financial analyses as required by management, ensuring robust and agile response to emerging business needs.

• Manage the financial aspect of personnel costs, including planning, closing, post-closing analysis, and collaboration with BU, HR, and Finance units.

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a multi-country or matrixed organization.

• Demonstrated history of strategic leadership and influencing at the leadership team level.

• In-depth knowledge of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and consolidation (IFRS and US GAAP).

• Experience with finance transformation projects and the implementation of new tools/systems (e.g., SAP, Appian).

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Fluency in English; other languages a plus.

This is a strategic leadership role – hands-on execution is delivered through your team. You are the guide, coach, and strategic anchor for finance in SEU and Malta.
