About Flutter UKI:

Role Overview:

You are enthusiastic, motivated and willing to make your mark. You have engineering skills and a passion for technology. You understand  technologies such as Java, dependency injection, inversion of control, application servers (Tomcat, Jetty) and event streaming (Kafka). Our associate developers are a real asset to our teams. They contribute to improving our products while gaining both technical and product knowledge. And in return, we support their professional growth and encourage them to become experts in their area.  The systems we develop and maintain are serving millions of users. Our technology supports the continuous growth of our business, so we must deliver outstanding quality and performance.  You need to have exceptional technical and problem solving skills and a positive, results driven attitude. 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • You have knowledge of software development and delivery, testing technologies; You are able to write code on a JVM programming language   
  • You are familiar with Dependency Injection and Inversion of Control containers  
  • You are familiar with HTTP request lifecycle  
  • You have a basic knowledge of secure coding and technical design principles (e.g. scalability, reliability, high-availability)  
  • Efficiently and proactively perform logs/metrics verification after a change  
  • Work independently on a variety of backend tasks and see them through to completion  
  • Identify and discuss possible solutions with the team 
  • Apply your knowledge of the primary programming language and complete most tasks with some guidance 
  • Contribute to implementing robust solutions that handle large volumes of traffic 
  • Identify areas of improvement 
  • Participating in code reviews 
  • Learn how to evaluate the impact of code changes 
  • Adhere to a test-driven development work style  

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the overall architecture of the systems in your area and a detailed knowledge of the components you own  
  • Show knowledge of data modelling techniques 
  • Grasp reusability techniques (e.g. design patterns, library extraction, new component creation) and identify some of the appropriate usages  
  • Be able to follow user journeys on our applications, regardless of the channel (desktop, mobile, native)  
  • Attend PIRs that are here to help us learn from failure 
  • Contribute to the creation of tasks that stop repeat incidents 
  • Have tasks assigned to yourself and ensure they are completed 
  • React to major incidents in a timely manner 
  • Support the Service Managers to resolve incidents within their SLAs 
  • Contribute with analysis of production incidents that touches already familiar areas of the applications 
  • Be able to explain the problem in a way that production operators, incident managers and stakeholders can understand  
  • This position involves working with and being part of a cross-skilled development team and will have regular contact with teams looking after other aspects of PPB products & tools.
