Job Description

Fluor is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer with 15+ years of engineering experience to support and lead pipeline scopes across all phases of project execution. This role requires a highly motivated engineering professional with strong field construction exposure and a deep commitment to Fluor’s Core Values of Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence. The ideal candidate is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta, brings proven leadership experience, and thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary EPC environment. International project experience is a strong asset. As a senior technical resource, you will provide discipline leadership throughout concept development, FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning. You will apply your expert understanding of CSA Z662, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and relevant regulatory environments to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible pipeline solutions. This position demands a self-starter who models accountability, communicates with clarity, and has a passion for developing high‑performing teams.

Job Description

  • Lead pipeline engineering efforts across multiple project phases, ensuring alignment with Fluor’s project execution plan, quality expectations, and safety culture.
  • Provide authoritative interpretation and application of CSA Z662, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and jurisdictional requirements throughout design and construction.
  • Develop and validate pipeline routing, hydraulic assessments, material specifications, and discipline deliverables consistent with Fluor work processes.
  • Provide construction-focused engineering support, working closely with site teams to address technical queries, support RFI responses, and drive resolution of non-conformances.
  • Mentor and guide intermediate and junior engineers, supporting talent development and reinforcing Fluor’s commitment to technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with project management, drafting, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated, high‑quality execution.
  • Contribute to engineering reviews, HAZOPs, constructability assessments, and risk-based evaluations.
  • Champion strong client and stakeholder relationships through clear communication, professionalism, and reliable technical delivery.
  • Support estimating, scheduling, and work-hour planning to ensure predictable project performance.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Engineering degree: Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical
  • 15+ years of pipeline engineering experience, with proven responsibility for design, coordination, and construction support.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Alberta or eligible for registration.
  • Demonstrated field construction experience with practical knowledge of pipeline installation methods, testing, commissioning, and field engineering processes.
  • Strong command of CSA Z662, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and related design and construction standards.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, interface with clients, and drive discipline outputs in accordance with EPC execution models.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated history as a self-starter who takes ownership of outcomes, anticipates challenges, and acts with urgency.
  • International project experience in pipeline design, execution, or construction is a notable advantage.

Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. 

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
