Job Description

We are looking for new grad mechanical computer-aided design (CAD) designers and modelers to join our Material Handling Engineering team.  The Material Handling group of Fluor’s Mining and Metals business line is involved in all aspects of design, engineering, and construction of large-scale belt conveyors, crushing and screening stations, bulk material storage and reclaim solutions, rail loading and unloading facilities. The successful candidate will be guided by experienced designers and engineers and learn about the layout and design of industrial facilities using both 2D and 3D CAD.

Material Handling CAD Designer Responsibilities:

  • Create drawing layouts of industrial facilities by using 2D and 3D CAD to arrange mechanical equipment in accordance with best practices while considering maintainability, constructability, and operability
  • Prepare intermediate complexity CAD 3D models of large and small scale equipment for use in drawings and the overall Project model
  • Prepare 2D Drawings using 3D model cuts and format for issue with proper labels and dimensions
  • Read vendor equipment drawings and confirm compliance into the overall design
    Support the Material Handling design lead with upkeep of drawing lists and administrative tasks
  • Learn and adhere to industry codes and standards as well as company practices and procedures
  • Plan, sequence, and carry out assignments in a timely manner

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited two (2) year diploma or global equivalent in field of study related to CAD and/or Mechanical design in 2025/2026.
  • Able to work in-person in the office where the work is to be carried out
  • Ability to understand drawing nomenclature
  • Strong aptitude in mechanics and how machines work
  • Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English, oftentimes with video or audio conferencing to audiences in remote locations
  • Passion to build and eagerness to learn and contribute in a team environment

Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. 

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $47,500.00 - $87,500.00

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
