Job Description

Fluor’s Calgary office requires an Intermediate GIS Specialist to participate in the Engineering Design and Construction of Projects in Canada and abroad. The position is responsible for GIS related activities that include management of GIS databases, creation and manipulation of spatial data, GIS web mapping administration, mapping production and advanced spatial analytics. The role also includes enforcement of GIS Data Governance best practices for GIS data created on projects and shall be a key interface for coordinating the collection, integration and quality assurance of all spatial data created by various internal and third party contractors.

 

Job Description

  • Responsible for the integration, validation and manipulation of spatial data provided by a consortium of internal and third party participants on large scale engineering and construction projects.
  • Provide adherence and enforcement of GIS Data Governance Standards and best practices for spatial data and mapping products.
  • Responsible for data mining and tasks related to gathering spatial data requirements on projects.
  • Create and manage Enterprise GIS Web Applications (ArcGIS Enterprise and Experience Builder).
  • Create and manage spatial data in a master database environment
  • Participate in a multi-discipline collaborative environment as a key point of contact for GIS related project activities.
  • Ability to work under indirect and direct supervision.
  • Participate in the promotion of GIS technologies internally and externally within Fluor and client organizations.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills to solve complex tasks using GIS.
  • Provide support and training to non-GIS disciplines in accessing and using GIS web applications. 

Basic Job Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in GIS or GIS related field from an accredited Post-Secondary Institution.
  • 4+ years experience in GIS related position.
  • Advanced knowledge in using ESRI ArcGIS Pro 3.x
  • Knowledge of Geodatabases and subsequent spatial data in various vector, raster and tabular file formats.
  • Knowledge of Geographic and Projected Coordinate Systems and concepts applied for transformations between projections.
  • Knowledge of GIS Web Applications (ArcGIS Enterprise and Experience Builder)
  • Competency in geoprocessing automation using scripting and modelling languages (python, arcade, javascript, model builder)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience managing spatial data in an Enterprise RDBMS environment (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SDE)
  • 2+ years experience in deployment of ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online and web mapping applications.
  • Experience with processing and manipulation of remotely sensed data (imagery, lidar, laser scanning) considered an asset.
  • Experience in leveraging AI-driven solutions and use of chatbot frameworks to automate processes and workflows.
  • Knowledge in computer-aided design applications such as AutoCAD, Microstation, SmartPlant 3d, NavisWorks and the transformation to GIS considered an asset.
  • Knowledge in using FME for data integration, transformation, and automation workflows considered an asset.
  • Knowledge in transformation of 3D model data into GIS considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish considered an asset.

Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. 

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
