F.J. Nugent & Associates Inc. represents a variety of pumps, including submersible sewage and positive displacement pumps, lime slaking equipment, odor control equipment and also remote monitoring and level control equipment.Job Summary:
This full-time position of Applications Engineer / Inside Sales position focuses on technical application review, pump selection support, quotation preparation, and development of submittal packages. The role works closely with Outside Sales and manufactures reviewing plans and specifications, assisting with pump sizing, converting competitor products, and providing accurate technical documentation. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and clear communication.
Responsibilities:
• Review drawings, plans, and specifications; assist with pump selections using manufacturer-specific sizing tools.
• Perform pump sizing calculations and generate pump curves to support equipment recommendations.
• Prepare accurate technical quotations for lift station pumps, controls, and related equipment.
• Convert competitor pump systems to company-supported product lines.
• Develop complete submittal packages, including cutsheets, pump curves, and relevant technical documentation.
• Support Outside Sales with technical information, pricing, selections, and project documentation.
• Track and Communicate project lead times and updates.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and accurate project information.
• Ensure all work meets standards of accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
Experience and Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in pumps, mechanical systems, electrical, or related industries.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications.
• Strong communication skills with sellers, contractors, engineers, and end users.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage deadlines effectively.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and thorough in technical documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Proficiency in Auto CAD is a plus.
• Ability to learn manufacturer pump selection software and internal systems.
• Previous experience with the municipal water/wastewater industry including a knowledge of a variety of pumps and other equipment that is used in the industry is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

No travel is required; this is an office-based role.
