Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America’s first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table.  We are America’s first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. OVERVIEW

A Welder Construction Specialist is a skilled professional responsible for joining metal parts using a variety of welding techniques. They play a crucial role in the construction industry, working on structures such as buildings, bridges, and pipelines. This position requires a deep understanding of welding processes, safety protocols, and construction standards.

 

 

 

Welding and Fabrication Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-cored arc welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the welding requirements.
  • Read survey plans and transport elevations with the transit theodolite.
  • Prepare and align metal parts before welding to ensure precise and accurate welds.
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components according to specifications and project requirements.
  • Organize and direct employees during the construction process.

 

Quality Control

  • Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure they meet industry standards and project specifications.
  • Identify and repair any defects or imperfections in the welds.
  • Maintain detailed records of welding activities, including the types of welds performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.

 

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding welding and construction practices.

 

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a formal welding training program or apprenticeship
  • Several years of experience in welding, preferably in the construction industry

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to work with different types of metals
  • Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment
  • Comfortable working in various outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and weather
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
