Job Title: EMEA Corporates & Infrastructure - Senior Analyst/Associate Director, Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure, London   

Fitch Ratings is seeking a Credit Analyst for the Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure team in EMEA Corporates & Infrastructure 

Fitch Ratings’ EMEA Corporates & Infrastructure group provides public and private ratings of companies and their debt instruments as well as project finance and infrastructure transaction ratings in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The department employs a team of over 100 credit analysts. In addition to London, Fitch’s largest office, the department has analysts on the ground in Frankfurt, Paris, Warsaw, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Stockholm and Dubai.

The Corporates group split into six sector teams: Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure; Utilities and Transport; Consumer and Healthcare; Industrials; Telecoms, Media and Technology (TMT),  Services and Leverage Finance; and Real Estate.

The EMEA Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure team covers around 150 public & private ratings across energy (oil and gas), metals and mining and chemical/ fertiliser and energy project finance and infrastructure. The team’s analysts are based in London, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Madrid, Warsaw and Dubai. 

This role is a permanent position that will be a maternity cover in the Corporates (Natural Resources & Commodities) department for the first 12 months. At the end of this period, you may be reallocated to a different area of the Corporates & Infrastructure group.

We’ll Count on You To:

  • Take responsibility for monitoring and proactively assessing a portfolio of companies across commodities sectors, analyse the creditworthiness of issuers in the sector, and monitor news and financial results to identify events or trends which may lead to timely rating changes;
  • Assist lead analysts in developing credit rating recommendations through extensive research and financial modelling support and presenting analysis and recommendations to credit committees;
  • Participate in meetings with executive-level management teams to strengthen understanding of business and industry;
  • Perform quantitative analysis including comprehensive financial statement forecasting;
  • Perform qualitative analysis focused on factors such as business models, competitive strengths, management strategy, industry analysis and regulatory considerations;
  • Assist in producing thematic research reports in your coverage sectors;
  • Conduct work in compliance with all relevant policies and procedures;
  • Contribute to a team spirit of comprehensive and open discussion and collaboration

 

What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree at minimum, MBA or other advanced degree a plus;
  • 2+ years experience in credit, financial analysis or accounting, plus a solid understanding of financial statements;
  • Some coverage or knowledge of the Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure sector a plus;
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organisational skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Other language skills would be advantageous.
  • Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change;
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment.
