SUMMARY:
Under direction, the Data Engineer I is the solution engineer responsible for FBNC limited management of data storage products and applications (databases, data warehouse, data marts) and data integration (DI) activities while having a good understanding in SQL database structures and Business Intelligence tools/products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support data warehouse application management.
- Assist with maintaining analytic products
- Understand and Assist with data security.
- Reviews data management requests, follow work load with Data Engineer II or CDO Office.
- Consume the change management process for enhancements that will impact environments in the Data Management space.
- Support databases for data storage or processing and assist with warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery.
- Manage and Develop Data Integration processes from work load direction
- Understand FBNC’s Enterprise Data Integration Direction
- Responsible for fulfilling Data Integration requests.
- Understand user access level for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data.
- Understand user access to databases.
- Understand request that require new data sources and assist CDO Office in developing process to support the data integration.
- Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to support data integration
- Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems within data integration processes or databases
- Confers with co-workers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to FBNC data ecosystem.
- Works with project and business leaders to identify data management requirements.
- Manages aspects such as data sourcing migration, quality, design and implementation.
- Scopes, plans and prioritizes multiple tasks.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge & Experience: These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQLServer)
- SSIS
- Has or planned to obtain Microsoft SQL Server Certifications
- Working knowledge of MS SQLServer SSRS or SSAS
- Has greater than 3 years working experience as a Data Engineer role
- Advanced knowledge for Data Integration
- Such as Extract Translate and Load (ETL) processes and functions
- Change Data Capture (CDC) and how to implement it
- Understand process and procedures for building and maintaining
- Databases
- Schemas
- Tables
- Data Elements
- Some knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts and support activities
- Some knowledge of Tabular and Cube data structures
- Good knowledge on how to implement processes to manage Data Retention Standards
- Understand Data Security and Active Directory (AD) within an RDBMS environment
- Be working to understand Microsoft Azure and MS SQLServer on Azure
- Understand the ITSM Change Management process as it relates to modifications for the Data Integration between data sources or applications
- Understand how Linked Database usage and processing
- Basic Project Task Management skill set
- Nice to have other Certifications such as
- Oracle Database Certification
- MySQL Database Certification
- PowerBI (MS Data Analyst)
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, speech, dexterity, visual concentration. A valid driver’s license is required. Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The environment is a professional office with standard office equipment.
