Finning Canada is seeking Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to support join our industry leading team in Edmonton on a 7 x 7 Continuous Shift. Heavy Duty Mechanics at Finning are responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance and diagnostics of a variety of Caterpillar equipment in a shop environment.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions

  • Trouble shooting equipment and perform equipment repairs

  • Interface with customers, products and sales support

  • Working with the Supervisor on various tasks

  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements

  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment

  • Various related duties as required

Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal preferred)

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Heavy Duty Technician

  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset

  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset

  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal

  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset

  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset

  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset

  • Experience with Lawson, SIS (Service Information System) and warranty systems considered assets

Important Details:

  • This is a shop based role, working a 7x7 continuous shift

  • A condition of employment may be the ability to be fit tested and wear a respirator

  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

  • Union Membership: You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.
