Finning Canada is seeking experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to work a 14x14 rotation in the Fort Nelson area. Location: Fort Nelson, BC
Schedule: 14x14 continuous rotation
Logistics: Techs travel to Fort St John (on travel allowance) then company provided truck from there
Accommodations: camp provided

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar and other mechanical equipment
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily 
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes) 
  • Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team 
  • Work with the Service Supervisor and Lead Hand on various tasks as required 

Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification 
  • Dual Tickets will be an asset
  • Valid driver's license with a successful recent driver abstract
  • Field Service experience 

As there is minimal training available for this position, the following experience is required:

  • 3600 CAT engine experience
  • Gas Compression experience (ability to work on all makes; GM , Kubota, Cummins)
  • Ariel Compressors (also Mycom, Sulair)
  • CAT experience with ADEM 4 exposure

Important Details: 

  • A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable 
  • Union Membership: You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.
