Job Description:

EXISTING VACANCY

Salary Range - $106,462 -$156,462 (Range will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience and qualifications)

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To lead, plan, and manage the design, development, and delivery of modern software architecture scalable solutions, including cloud platforms, applications, integrations, and generative AI/ML-enabled solutions, while optimizing current state systems and enabling FSRA’s digital transformation.

To partner with business leaders, product teams, and engineering to ensure scalable, secure, and future-ready technology platforms that drive business outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational

  • Leads, manages, and oversees the planning, design, development, and evaluation of software solutions, including projects involving application development, system integration, enhancement, and modernization, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategies, standards, and best practices.

  • As part of the management team, supports FSRA leadership in formulating technology strategy and developing actionable roadmaps, while providing leadership in executing programs and services to deliver on strategic priorities

  • Supports the analysis of FSRA’s business systems to define system requirements for IT solutions and deliverables that meet client business needs, including the identification and evaluation of innovative technology trends and productivity tools/methods. 

  • Works in collaboration with colleagues on section department priorities for FSRA.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Defines, maintains and implements the enterprise software and architecture roadmap aligned with business strategy.

  • Establishes and enforces architecture principles, standards, and governance frameworks.

  • Partners with Technology leaders to translate business needs into software and AI/ML solutions.

  • Remains current with emerging technologies (AI, cloud, DevOps, cybersecurity, edge computing, Microsoft Dynamics etc.) and guide adoption.

Solution & Technical Oversight

  • Oversees the design and implementation of end-to-end architectures, including applications, data platforms, integrations, and AI/ML systems.

  • Ensures scalability, security, and interoperability across the enterprise ecosystem.

  • Provides high-level technical guidance on cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems, etc.

  • Directs the integration of AI/ML models into enterprise applications and operational workflows.

Delivery & Operations

  • Manages a portfolio of software and AI/ML initiatives, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

  • Oversees DevOps and MLOps practices, ensuring efficient pipelines for deployment and lifecycle management.

  • Ensures compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborates with product management to balance innovation, speed, and long-term platform health.

Talent & Culture

  • Leads, mentors, and grows teams of solution architects, AI/ML engineers, and software developers.

  • Fosters a culture of innovation, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Develops training programs to upskill staff in AI/ML, cloud, and modern software architecture.

QUALIFICATIONS  

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent experience.

  • Industry certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Architect, or AI/ML

  • 6 – 8 years’ experience in leading architecture, business analysis or software development teams and managing the design, development, testing, implementation and support of various types of systems, databases, applications, services and initiatives for a midsize or a large organization.

  • Proven experience combining strategic leadership, technical depth, and strong people management skills, with a track record of delivering enterprise-scale software and AI/ML solutions.

Experience

  • Experience with enterprise integration platforms (ERP, CRM, Data Lakes/Warehouses).

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).

  • Experience in AI ethics and bias mitigation.

  • Experience in digital transformation and legacy modernization initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated skills and ability to manage and champion change for a new organizational culture and vision.

  • Expertise in leading systems, architecture and applications development projects, or equivalent skills and experience.

  • Strong knowledge of modern technologies, platforms and methodologies, such as Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, RPA, Cloud, PaaS, SaaS, and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), etc.

  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Strong experience with enterprise software architecture (cloud-native, microservices, APIs, event-driven).

  • Proven experience delivering AI/ML solutions at scale, including knowledge of frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and cloud AI platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP Vertex AI).

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: to resolve significant integration and technical issues to address multiple systems/applications linkages, interdependencies and impacts where requirements are not initially clear; to research and recommend innovative systems architecture alternatives and integration strategies; and to plan, manage and coordinate all phases of complex architecture implementation.

  • Strong people management skills with experience building and mentoring cross-functional technical teams.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes.
